About Nathan

During the last four years, I’ve prepared for a career in public relations, marketing, or corporate communications at Elon University’s School of Communications — one of only 18 private accredited schools of communications in the world.  With a diverse skill set in-hand, I’m eager to enter the next chapter of my life and begin working in the exciting and ever-changing world of media.

One of the things that makes the Elon experience unique is the opportunity to earn class credit by working “hands-on” with local organizations to solve communications challenges.  In a collaborative group environment, I had the pleasure of:

My skills as a writer, critical thinker, and communicator were also sharpened through dozens of rigorous liberal arts courses.  Studying British Literature in the United Kingdom stands out as one of my most memorable experiences.  While more than 5,000 miles away from home, I was constantly confronted with “think-on-my-feet” situations, examining the history of western civilization, and immersed in a culture unlike anything I have ever known.

Seeking a leadership position, I started a student-run television show aimed at educating my peers with the basics of cooking.  Developing the show concept, finding talent and support staff, presenting my show concept to the student media organization, and presiding over a TV production has paid off to be my most rewarding college experience.

In addition to my academic and extracurricular achievements, I also take pride in my financial independence earned by working most nights and weekends during the last four years.  Experience in the retail and restaurant industries has provided me with valuable lessons in customer service and problem solving — skills transferable to almost any industry.

Given my range of professional experiences, one would say I have a diverse skill set.  One of my greatest values is versatility: I am interested in many areas of communications and have a firm grip on essential skills involving writing and technology.  I believe new media — emerging technologies that enhance and expand the internet and mobile platform –  will be a driving force in the evolution of communication, commerce, and culture.  It’s an exciting time for all of us and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
