I’ve decided its time to revamp my favorite browser and this weekend is a perfect time to do some testing and adjusting. Compared to some Firefoxers out there, I don’t think I have THAT many whistles and horns. I am currently running version 3.5.2 and 8 add-ons: Cooliris, Delicious Bookmarks, Flagfox, Foxtab, Gmail Manager, Google Gears, Stumble Upon, and Twitterfox.
I absolutely love Cooliris, Delicious Bookmarks, Gmail Manager, and Twitterfox. All … ermm– most, of these add-ons bring greater efficiency, organization, and clarity to my browsing experience. Flagfox is a small add-on appearing on the right end of the awesome bar. It displays the flag of the nation hosting a site’s servers. Not critically important, but I’ve always been kind of curious about that kind of stuff. Foxtab is mostly eye candy — similar to Windows Flip on Vista — this highly customizable add-on shows previews of open tabs. I haven’t deemed this the best add-on ever, although it is useful when one has a dozen or more tabs up. StumbleUpon’s getting the axe for two reasons: I can’t get into it, and I dislike anything like the StumbleUpon toolbar that takes up so much screen real estate.
I’ll be on the hunt for add-ons which add increased functionality and efficiency that add value to the browsing experience. And maybe a nice theme or something. I’ll be posting the results after the weekend.
